Millwright - Nuclear A Nuclear Millwright is a highly skilled professional responsible for fabricating, installing, and maintaining machinery and equipment within a nuclear facility. This role involves working from field sketches, shop drawings, and blueprints to ensure precise and reliable operation of critical systems. It requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, precision measurement, and safety protocols. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements. Essential Functions: Perform all job duties safely according to job requirements. Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools. Demonstrate proper use and care of basic measuring devices. Lubricate equipment, machinery, or components per manufacturer's specifications. Demonstrate proper selection and use of mechanical fasteners. Demonstrate proper use and care of portable power tools. Demonstrate proper use and care of stationary power equipment for machinery. Fabricate items from field sketches and shop drawings. Create accurate field sketches. Demonstrate proper use and care of precision measuring tools. Read and interpret detailed blueprints. Perform detailed layout work. Establish equipment or machinery center lines and elevations. Perform precision installation of equipment, machinery, or components, including anchoring, leveling, and aligning. Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping. Perform cleanup duties. Perform craft-related math. Demonstrate proper use and care of oxygen and acetylene equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience. Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements. Successful completion of all training including Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools. Availability for shift work, if needed. Ability to support other crafts as requested. Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels). Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures. Ability to pass specific training and qualifications. Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening. Physical Demands: Visual acuity, balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking. Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods. Ability to read and write complex documents in English. Capacity to reason and make sound decisions. Ability to express thoughts orally. Strategic thinking and planning for growth.
