As an RN Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nights at HCA Healthcare, you will provide specialized, high-acuity nursing care to adult patients who require close monitoring and advanced interventions but do not meet intensive care criteria. Working within the Healthcare & Medical Services department in a collaborative, patient-centered environment, you will manage complex medical conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, post-surgical, and other progressive care cases, using telemetry and advanced monitoring to quickly recognize and respond to changes in patient status. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments according to evidence-based protocols, and coordinate care with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and the broader interdisciplinary team to ensure safe transitions of care. Night shift responsibilities include prioritizing care for a diverse, often high-acuity caseload, providing thorough handoffs, maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, and adhering to all safety, infection prevention, and quality standards. You will support and educate patients and their families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans, demonstrating compassion, clear communication, and cultural sensitivity. In alignment with HCA Healthcare’s culture of compassion, teamwork, and continuous learning, you will actively participate in unit-based councils, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development opportunities, including skills training and specialty certifications. You will also serve as a resource and mentor for new nurses and support staff on nights, contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment focused on integrity, innovation, and excellent patient outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a leading healthcare organization, expand your progressive care and cardiac/telemetry expertise, and make a meaningful impact on patients and communities during their most vulnerable moments.
